  • On the beautiful hills of North Thimphu stands a beautiful shrine that puts awe to the eyes that sees it. Changangkha Lhakhang is located in Changangkha area which is 5-minutes’ drive from the main town. Around the chorten are Bhutanese houses that give the area bit of a rural appeal.
  • The Lhakhang has typical Bhutanese architecture and was built by the descendants of Phajo Drugom Zhigpo. Prayer flags floating bestow a delightful sight with a bonus of getting to see a panoramic view of Thimphu valley.
  • Currently, this Lhakhang functions as a monastic school, that carries out religious teachings and it conducts the naming ceremony of new born babies as it is believed that protective deity of Thimphu valley resides in this temple.
  • Tourists on a spiritual journey have the chance to meditate with the monks of the Lhakhang, and also receive some knowledge on Buddhist Philosophy. Tourists can also witness the auspicious child naming ceremony and along with a chance to witness beautiful paintings and artifacts.
