Day 1 | Arrival & Paro ValleyParo Valley
Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, meet your representative who will guide you throughout your stay in Bhutan. Transfer to your hotel in Paro and check in.
Visit the National Museum (Ta Dzong) and discover fascinating artefacts dating back to 4000 BC, showcasing Bhutan’s rich cultural heritage.
Explore the magnificent Rinpung Dzong, a masterpiece of Bhutanese architecture popularly known as the “Fortress on a Heap of Jewels.”
Enjoy leisure time in Paro Town, where you can relax and explore the surroundings.
Dinner at the hotel and overnight stay in Paro.

Day 2 | Jomolhari Trek Start – Paro to Sharna ZampaParo – Sharna Zampa
Enjoy an early breakfast at the hotel before driving towards Drukgyel Dzong.
Your trek begins from the historic Drukgyel Dzong (2,580m), where you will meet your trekking crew. Start walking along a wide trail following the Pa Chhu (Paro River). The trail gradually ascends through the countryside, offering scenic views of rice paddies and millet fields.
As the valley widens, you will pass through apple orchards, traditional Bhutanese farmhouses, and small settlements such as Mitshi Zampa and Sangatan.
Continuing through a blue pine forest, you will arrive at the army post of Gunitsawa (2,810m) where your trekking permits will be checked and stamped.
After crossing the Pa Chhu River on a wooden bridge, the trail leads to Sharna Zampa (2,870m), where you will camp overnight in the meadows surrounded by forest.

Day 3 | Sharna Zampa to Soi ThangkhaSharna Zampa – Soi Thangkha
After breakfast at camp, continue trekking along the Pa Chhu (Paro River), ascending and descending through pine, oak, and spruce forests. Along the way, you will cross several streams before reaching Shingkharap, a stone house located at 3,110m, after about two hours of hiking.
Cross a bridge to the left side of the river, where a hot lunch will be served.
A short distance ahead lies a trail junction: the left path follows the old trade route to Tibet, while the right path leads toward a wooden bridge. Taking the latter route, continue climbing through rhododendron forests and cross the bridge once again.
Finally, arrive at Soi Thangkha (3,750m), where your camp is set amidst beautiful alpine meadows.

Day 4 |Soi Thangkha to Jangothang Base CampSoi Thangkha – Jangothang
After breakfast at camp, continue your trek as the trail gradually climbs above the tree line, marking a significant gain in altitude. Following the ascending path from the campsite, you will reach an army camp before continuing along the river with spectacular views of the surrounding mountain peaks.
After passing through a muddy section of trail and a mani wall, you will enter yak grazing areas, where the landscape opens into high alpine meadows.
Stop at a yak herders’ camp for a hot and hearty lunch. After lunch, continue trekking past the yak herder settlements of Soe and Takethang, crossing a wide plateau and walking along a stream bed.
Passing through Dangochang village, you will finally arrive at the beautiful campsite of Jangothang Base Camp (4,040m).
From here, enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Jomolhari and Jichu Drake, two of Bhutan’s most magnificent Himalayan peaks.

Day 5 | Jangothang ExplorationJangothang Base Camp
After breakfast at camp, enjoy a day dedicated to acclimatization and exploration around Jangothang Base Camp.
Embark on a four-hour acclimatization hike to the north of the camp. The trail follows an open slope where you will gradually climb until you reach a viewpoint offering spectacular sights of Mount Jichu Drakye (6,989m).
For those wishing to continue further, the hike can extend up to 4,895m, rewarding you with breathtaking views of Mount Jomolhari, one of Bhutan’s most majestic peaks.
Along the way, you may encounter rare wildlife such as blue sheep, griffon vultures, and golden eagles, as well as alpine plants like Himalayan rhubarb and Bhutan’s national flower – the Blue Poppy.
Return to camp for rest and relaxation.

Day 6 | Jangothang to LingshiJangothang – Lingshi
After breakfast at camp, begin the trek by following a stream for about 30 minutes before crossing a bridge to the right side of the valley. The trail then ascends to the first ridge, where you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of Mount Jomolhari (7,314m), Jichu Drake (6,989m), and Tshering Gang (6,789m).
Continue along a relatively gentle and flat trail through the valley before ascending further to Ngye La Pass (4,700m).
From the pass, begin a gradual descent toward the campsite while enjoying spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks and the historic Lingshi Dzong.
You may take a short detour to Lingshi Dzong, a small fortress perched on a hilltop overlooking Lingshi Village. For centuries, this fortress served as a resting station for Buddhist pilgrims and a defense post against Tibetan and Mongolian invaders.
Arrive at the campsite at 4,010m and rest for the night.

Distance: 18 km | Duration: 6–7 hours | Camp Altitude: 4,010 m
Day 7 | Lingshi to ShoduLingshi – Shodu
After breakfast at camp, continue the trek as the Laya–Gasa route separates from the Jomolhari trek at this point. The trail ascends toward a small white chorten on a ridge above the campsite, then turns south, leading into the deep Mo Chhu Valley.
The route follows the west side of a wide, treeless valley, gradually climbing above the Mo Chhu River. After a short distance, the trail crosses the river and begins a steep two-hour ascent to Yele La Pass (4,820m).
On a clear day, enjoy magnificent views of Mount Jomolhari, Gangchen Ta, Tshering Gang, and Masang Gang from the pass.
From here, descend alongside a mountain stream to a shelter and continue further downstream until you reach the campsite at Shodu (4,100m), a peaceful meadow marked by a chorten.

Day 8 | Shodu to BarshongShodu – Barshong
After breakfast at camp, begin your trek following the Thimphu Chhu River, with the trail winding up and down through beautiful alpine scenery. Along the way, you will cross the river six times, making for an adventurous and scenic journey.
The trail gradually descends through lush forests and open valleys before a final climb of about one hour leads you to your campsite.
Arrive at Barshong (3,710m), where the camp is set just below the ruins of a small historic dzong, offering a peaceful setting for the night.

Day 9 | Barshong to Dolam KenchoBarshong – Dolam Kencho
After breakfast at camp, begin the trek with a gentle descent through dense forests of rhododendron, birch, and conifer trees until you reach the Thimphu Chhu River. The trail continues through scenic pasture lands, offering peaceful views of the surrounding valley.
Arrive at Dolam Kencho (3,320m), where the campsite is set in a beautiful meadow, providing a relaxing environment after the day’s trek.

Distance: 15 km | Duration: 4–6 hours | Ascent: 290 m | Descent: 640 m | Camp Altitude: 3,320 m
Day 10 | Dolam Kencho to ThimphuDolam Kencho – Thimphu
After breakfast at camp, begin an easy descent through forest trails towards Dodena, which takes about three hours. Your vehicle will be waiting at Dodena to transfer you to Thimphu.
Enjoy a 30-minute drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel and relax after completing the trek.

Day 11 | Paro – Hike to Tiger’s NestParo Valley
Enjoy an early breakfast at the hotel before driving to Tiger’s Nest Base / Parking Lot, the starting point for one of Bhutan’s most iconic pilgrimage hikes.
Hike to Taktsang Monastery, famously known as Tiger’s Nest, perched dramatically on a cliffside. This is one of the most stunning and revered landmarks in Bhutan.
Lunch at Taktsang Cafeteria with scenic views of the valley below.
Engage in a traditional Bhutanese experience by playing Archery, the national sport of Bhutan.
Relax and rejuvenate with a Bhutanese hot stone bath, which combines natural minerals with healing khempa herbs for a unique wellness experience.
Dinner at a local farmhouse and overnight stay in Paro.
